VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!


Volunteers are needed for the following events: 

May 15th, Concert -  As always volunteers are needed for merchandise sales, programs and chaperoning. Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering Lourdes@BSYO.us .

AUDITIONS!


Audition applications are still being accepted. Make sure you get your application in no later than Wednesday, May 18th. Next year promises to be an exciting year, the Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing alongside the BSO on Saturday, Nov 19th, at the King Center.

Baked Goods!


There will be a coffee and desert reception immediately following the concert in order to honor Breverd county's music educators. We are asking for baked goods donations from parents for the event. Please contact Enie Windle with questions or donations.

Cover Art Contest - We are still looking for entries!


We are still looking for entries! The BSYO is seeking music-related artwork to become the cover of our 2011-2012 season program. This program will be distributed at our concerts to audiences of 2,500+ people. The winning artwork also will be reproduced for other BSYO materials such as posters, brochures and compact disc covers.

"Share the excitement: a Tribute to Music Educators"


The final concert "Share the excitement: a Tribute to Music Educators" is on Sunday, May 15th at 3:30 PM at the Cocoa Beach Performing Arts Center, 1500 Minutemen Causeway, Cocoa Beach. In addition to being included in "Senior Spotlight", seniors will be recognized on stage during the performance. Be sure to invite your family, friends and neighbors to honor their outstanding commitment to the BSYO! A reception will follow the concert in order to honor music educators.
Dress Code
Philharmonic Orchestra
Ladies:

  • Black dress with sleeves (no bare shoulders or spaghetti straps)
  • or Black blouse with sleeves (no bare midriff)
  • Black dress pants or black skirt (mid-calf length or longer with no slits)
  • Black hose
  • Black shoes closed toe, 1 ½” heel or less
Gentlemen:
  • Black tuxedo (jacket and pants)
  • White long sleeve tuxedo shirt
  • Black bowtie
  • Black socks and black shoes
Symphony Orchestra
Ladies:
  • Black dress with sleeves (no bare shoulders or spaghetti straps)
  • or Black blouse with sleeves (no bare midriff)
  • Black dress pants or black skirt (mid-calf length or longer with no slits)

  • Black hose and black shoes, flats
Gentlemen:
  • Black shirt
  • Black pants
  • Black socks and black shoes
Performers please arrange your hair off your face for concerts so we can see your eyes and you can see the music and conductor.

Curtain Call



In order for all the orchestras to get their necessary rehearsal times Sunday, the following schedule has been worked out. Cocoa Beach Jr/ Sr High Performing Arts Center will be opened at 11:00. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your rehearsal time.
The Philharmonic Orchestra will start rehearsing at 11:30 AM
The Symphony Orchestra will start rehearsing at 12:45 PM
The Sinfonietta Orchestra will start rehearsing at 1:30 PM
The String Ensemble will start rehearsing at 2:30 PM

Don't forget to order your group pictures from Baldino Studios. Please e-mail me Lourdes@BSYO.us if you need an order form. You have through the month of May to place your orders.
Prices are:
  • Option A - 6¾" x 23" archival fine art print coated with UV protector $45
  • Option B - 6¾ x 23" archival fine art print coated with UV protector, mounted on hard board, designer wood frame, ready to hang $119
The BSYO will receive 19% of all proceeds for student financial aid scholarships.

Attendance Policy Reminder

Students should arrive at rehearsals at least 10 minutes prior to a rehearsal and be tuned and ready to play on time. You are late if you are not in your seat, tuned and ready to play, when the rehearsal begins. Three late arrivals/early departures equal one absence. 
All absences, early departures or late arrivals should be reported to your orchestra manager and conductor in advance of the rehearsal.
Students, please sign in to rehearsal to avoid being marked absent!
