Mid-Season Auditions
January 6, 2025
BSYO will hold Mid-Season Auditions on Monday January 6th at Eau Gallie High School from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We will accept brand new students and at the same time welcome current members to audition for more advanced ensembles. This audition is open for students auditioning for any BSYO performing ensemble.
To Audition for BSYO, you must:
1. Register for BSYO-New Members only!! (click here!)
2. Sign up for an audition time by clicking the red button below.
AUDITION POLICIES:

- All BSYO ensembles require a placement audition.

- Each audition has a $25 fee payable at sign-up.
- Students must be enrolled in their school string/orchestra program to participate in BSYO. -
- If you need assistance in selecting an appropriate ensemble for your child, please email bsyoinfo@gmail.com.

- Interested Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion students should contact dominickeggen@gmail.com for audition requirements.

Mid-Season Audition Excerpts
String Ensemble
Audition Requirements 2024-2025
The String Ensemble is designed for developing string players and the group plays middle school literature. Students auditioning for String Ensemble should prepare the following:

3 Major scales and arpeggios: D, G, & C (one octave required, two/three octaves optional)

Solo of the student's choosing that best showcases playing ability (about 1 minute)
-
No sight-reading or Excerpts 1, 2, or 3 required.
Festivo
Audition Requirements 2024-2025
Festivo Orchestra is an intermediate ensemble and the group plays advanced middle school/early high school literature. Students auditioning for Festivo Orchestra should prepare the following:

Excerpt 1 (students will be asked to play a portion of Excerpt 1, chosen by the conductors)

Major scales and arpeggios. Conductors will choose one scale from the following (students can play additional octaves if they wish):

Violin: Two octaves- C, G, D/ One octave- A, F

Viola & Cello: Two octaves C, G, D / One octave- A, F
-
Bass: One octave- C, G, D, A, F

Chamber Orchestra
Audition Requirements 2024- 2025
Chamber Orchestra is an advanced ensemble and the group plays advanced high school literature. Students auditioning for Chamber Orchestra should prepare the following:

Excerpt 1 & 2 (students will be asked to play a portion of Excerpt 1 & 2, chosen by the conductors)

Major scales and arpeggios. Conductors will choose one scale from the following (students can play additional octaves if they wish):

Violin: Two octaves- C, G, D, A, F, Bb, Eb

The Symphony Orchestra is our most advanced ensemble that plays collegiate and professional level repertoire. Students auditioning for the Symphony Orchestra should prepare the following
